In these lessons, you'll learn about the powerful effects processing techniques related to parallel and multi-band processing. Ableton Live makes it easy to configure these kinds of effects chains giving you deeper control of your sonic output. Parallel processing allows you to mix an unprocessed (dry) signal with a processed (wet) signal, which results in an output that is more subtle than a fully processed signal where there is no dry signal layered with it. You can apply this technique to any effect like compression, distortion, delay, reverb, etc. as well as combinations of these effects.
Multi-band processing enables you to isolate and affect particular frequency ranges while leaving other ranges unaffected (e.g. apply reverb only to the high frequencies of a synth or drum beat, while leaving the low frequencies unaffected and dry). You'll be surprised at how easy and how useful these techniques are in Ableton Live - and when honed properly, your result will be a more nuanced, deliberate, and tasteful sonic output.
